What is Tactical Hapkido ?
Tactical Hapkido is a system of self-defense that include joint locks, kicks, strikes and weapons disarms. With out the traditional stances or hyungs (forms - kata's)
Tactical Hapkido is based on biomechanics and scientific principles.
The word Tactical means planning or maneuvering to accomplish a purpose - to win in combat.
The literal translation of the word Hapkido (which is actually a compression of three distinct words)
Hap - to combine, to unite, to coordinate, to harmonize.
Ki - internal strength, life force, power, dynamic energy.
Do - the way, the system, the method.
The Universal Theories of Hapkido are :
The Water Principle teaches the student to penetrate the defense of the attacker by "Flowing" in, over, around, and under.
The Circular Motion teaches the student how to gain and impart momentum by moving in a circular manner. By redirecting the attack in a circular direction the student controls the balance and kinetic energy of the attacker.
The Nonresistance (or Harmony) Principle teaches the student to remain relaxed, flexible (not tense), and not meet force with force.
These are the principles that Tactical Hapkido is based on and teaches.
Is
the THA recognized?
The THA is an independent organization of schools and individual members with the authority to govern and regulate the system of Tactical Hapkido, and to issue internationally recognized certifications to its members.

Recognition: We do not hold back rank. The THA will give you the rank and promotions that you earned.
No politics and no egos.
How
do I test for a higher rank in the THA?
In person with Master Barry Rodemaker (by arrangement) at one of the THA seminars or camps.
By submitting a video by special request to the THA headquarters.
Note : No Black Belt promotions will be issued to instructors who do not have the THA videos pertinent to their rank.
Is
the THA only for Korean style martial artists?
Not at all! Although many of our members have a background in Korean arts, we welcome practitioners from all arts and styles.
I have a second Dan in another
style. Will the THA recognize my rank and issue me a cross-over rank to second
Dan?
No. The THA recognizes all Hapkido Dan rankings issued by legitimate Hapkido organizations. We don’t use cross ranking or rank combining practices.
God's word in the Bible makes us wise - wiser than our enemies and wiser than any teachers who ignore it. True wisdom goes beyond
amassing knowledge; it is applying knowledge in a life changing way. Intelligent or experienced people are not necessarily wise.
Wisdom comes from allowing what God teaches to guide us.
